Since then I had been of the opinion that steaks are always dull. But to my grateful surprise, I was sitting at my friend’s when this concept and impression of mine categorically changed. My friend’s mom is a fantastic cook. She made a special steak marinade for lunch that day. 

After tasting that steak I fell in love with it. I inquired about the secret tips from my friend’s mom to make a juicy and tender yet a moreish steak marinade. Now this is my signature recipe.

Ingredients’ Notes 

  • Italian Seasoning

Italian seasoning includes basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, fennel seeds and marjoram all in dried powdered form. But there are a number of variations which you can make in order to customize the seasoning according to your taste. Branded and packaged Italian seasoning is also a very good option.   • Soy Sauce 

Soy sauce is a commonly praised ingredient used in marination. It adds a distinctive savory flavor to the steak. 

  • Lemon Juice

  • Steak 

The base of the steak marinade is this beef. The choice of meat is always a free option for you. The same marinade can be used in chicken steak, turkey and beef. Select the cut which has softer fibers and the thickness should not be more than 1.5 inch. I recommend rib eye or New York. 

  • Butter 

Butter is the best option to cook the steak marinade with. It gives a more indigenous aroma and taste. Otherwise regular cooking oils can also work. 

  • Parsley 

The fresh green color of parsley nails the presentation of steak marinade. Moreover it gives a vivid aroma when mixed with the smoke of the steak. 

Ingredients with Quantities 

  • Steak 2 pounds 
  • Butter 2 tbsp 
  • Fresh Parsley (chopped) for garnishing 
  • Ingredients for Marinade 
  • Soy Sauce ⅓  cup 
  • Worcestershire Sauce ⅓ cup
  • Lemon Juice ½ cup 
  • Olive Oil ½ cup 
  • Garlic (minced)  2 tbsp 
  • Italian Seasoning 2 tbsp 
  • Black Pepper (ground) 1 tsp 
  • Red Chilli Flakes ½ tsp 
  • Salt ½ tsp 
  • Zip Lock Bag (polythene) 1 bag

Instructions 

  • Buy the steak cut of the beef from a meat shop. You may also make the steaks thinner. Ideal thickness is 1.5 inch. 
  • Place the steaks in a broad tray. 
  • Pound them with a sharp fork so that the pores absorb the marinade well. Pound from both the sides. 
  • Mix all the ingredients of the marinade in a bowl. 
  • Whisk them well as there are powdered ingredients and sauces both. 
  • Put the steaks and the marinade in a zip lock bag. 
  • Press the bag from the sides with your hands in a way to mix the spices with the steaks. 
  • If you don’t have a bag then you may do this mixing in a bowl also. 
  • Place the bag in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. Overnight marination is an ideal time span. 
  • For cooking, open the bag, take out the steaks from the bag. 
  • Heat the grilling pan on the stove till it is right hot (not burning). 
  • Grease the pan with a bit of butter and put the steaks in the pan. 
  • Keep the flame medium throughout. 
  • Let each side of the steak stay on the grilling pan for about 5-7 minutes. 
  • Then change the side and cook for 5-7 minutes. 
  • We shall do this flipping for 3 times which means grilling each side twice.
  • When you see that the steak marinade is fully done and adopts the vibrant brown color then remove the steaks from the pan. 
  • Place the steaks in a tray and cut the pieces in the desired shape. 
  • Butter the pieces with a brush. You may pour more butter if you want a more dribbly and indigenous taste. 
  • Set the steaks in the serving dish and sprinkle freshly chopped parsley on the top. 
  • Here it is. Get ready to receive the admiration around the table from your family and guests.

  • If you feel that steak needs some more cooking, you may grill it for a further 2 minutes. Not more than that.

  •  Always brush the steak with butter at the end. It gives an extra shine to it and feels more juicy.

Can I store the leftover steak marinade?

Yes steak marinade can be refrigerated easily for 2 days. Just heat it well (not overheat) before eating again. I don’t recommend freezing of the steak. It can survive in freezer if kept in an air tight jar but its flavor will be compromised then.

Avoid overcooking and also avoid cooking less than the recommended time. Don’t flip the steak too much. Make sure to add lemon juice in the marinade. In this way the steak marinade will be soft and tender for sure.
