The dressing or icing and frosting are another aesthetic field to be enjoyed for those who are aesthetic in tastes. Â

Why a Jam Cake instead of a Regular Cake?Â

Well that is a good question. And for me the answer is quite simple. A jam cake is superfluous in its relish as jam is a sweet treat and the cake is as well. When both of them get combined the treat doubles its effect. Cakes and desserts are not a part of the daily menu in homes. They have a special protocol. So if we take these sweet treats less frequently then we should enjoy them with whole spirit.Â

Ingredients’ Notes

  • FlourÂ

All purpose flour is the best option for baking a cake. But those who are on diet can also use the portions of almond flour and walnut flour. This flour captures the major part in the base. Rich in carbohydrates, all purpose flour gives a solid form to the jam cake.Â

  • EggsÂ

Eggless cakes are also very common these days. I personally think that when you skip a major ingredient from a recipe, you have to compensate for it with the excess pof another ingredient. So eating with balance makes you not to sacrifice any option or compromise on taste. Eggs are rich in protein. They not only give a fluffy texture to the jam cake but also work as a bonding agent to ensure the firm base of the cake.Â

  • NutsÂ

Raisins and walnuts provide us with healthful fats and minerals. Their addition to jam cake adds up a great value to the taste and feel.Â

  • Sugar and ButterÂ

Sugar is used in the cake and in its icing as well as the butter. Both of them are the star ingredients. Their accurate and balanced quantities will bring the true required relish to the jam cake.Â

  • Baking soda and powderÂ

Baking powder and baking soda both are essential in raising the cake and changing it from a semi solid creamy texture to a solid form. Always use them in fresh as too old baking soda may affect the freshness of the jam cake.Â

  • JamÂ

Aah! Jam… the king of our jam cake. Its inclusion in the cake is the real secret which is quite open to all. Packaged ready made jams are easily available. Just go for them but homemade too is not a bad option.

The right choice in jam flavor will largely affect your joy for the jam cake. Options are all there. Strawberry jam, blackberry jam, apple jam, banana jam, mango jam, apricot jam and many more. I always prefer mixed jam. I make m y own jam at home and certainly add dates and raisins in it as both these ingredients are lush in a jammy taste. But you can try another very simple mixed fruit jam recipemixed-fruit-jam if packaged jams are not your option. Â

FAQsÂ

  • What is the best jam to be used in jam cake?Â

It depends on your taste. You can use mixed fruit jam or even more than a single flavor. Like you may add mango jam on one side, apple in the middle and strawberry on the other side. All flavors go well in jam cakes.Â

  • Can I use jam in chocolate cake?Â

Why not? That’s such a fine idea. If you are crazy for chocolate then jam cake will taste even more sensational in addition to the jam in the layering.Â

  • Is there any other option other than icing on the top of the jam cake?Â

Yes, there are. Jam cakes are even more adaptable with syrup or honey covering on the top instead of icing. Or you can adjust a tin layer of jam mixed in honey on the top of the jam cake.Â
