Ready made sauce or home made sauce?
As hot sauce is an essential and basic part of a hot popper’s recipe, it is important to choose a good tested brand of hot sauce. If you are still confused about how to select a brand then I am here to tell you the complete quick recipe of hot sauce as well.
Ingredients of hot sauce:
- Hot peppers (red fresh chillies) 8-10
- Garlic cloves 2
- Salt ¼ tsp
- Vinegar 2 tsp
Instructions :
Grind all the ingredients with 2 tbsp of water except vinegar. After taking out the paste from the grinder or blender add vinegar to it. Your hot sauce is ready to be used in hot poppers recipe.
Ingredients of poppers
Chicken tenders (cut into 1.5 inch pieces | 1 pound |
Eggs (beaten) | 2 |
Salt | ½ tsp |
Garlic powder | ½ tsp |
Union powder | ½ teaspoon |
Bread crumbs | 2 cups |
Canola oil | For frying |
Brown sugar | 2 tbsp |
White sugar | 1 tbsp |
Honey | ½ cup |
Hot sauce | ⅓ cup |
Procedure:
Dipping and coating;
- Cut the chicken tenders into 1.5 inch (approximately) pieces.
- Beat the eggs well with salt, onion powder and garlic powder.
- Dip the pieces of chicken into the egg batter.
- Then coat the chicken pieces into bread crumbs. It’s your own choice to use regular bread crumbs in this hot poppers recipe or use panko breadcrumbs. Panko breadcrumbs are easily available at stores. They are more flakier and give more crunch.
Frying ;
- After coating in breadcrumbs, put the chicken pieces one by one into hot oil (not the burning oil). Keep the flame medium to low as chicken needs time to be fully cooked from inside.
- When chicken gets golden brown from all around then take it out and drop the pieces on a tissue paper so that the extra oil gets absorbed in tissue paper.
Sauce mixing;
- For the sauces you just need to mix all the four things e.g. brown sugar, sugar, honey and hot sauce into a bowl. Whisk it well to be combined into a unified liquid.
- Dish out the chicken poppers. Pour sauce onto them. Your hot poppers recipe is ready.
- Enjoy the relish.

Tips:
Note: In choosing the food items, we usually prioritize our preferences. Some people like packaged things and some use fresh organic ones, for instance. So whatever choice you make, keep the following tips in your mind.
- Use breast piece of chicken as it gives extra relish and is also easy to cut.
- Simple bread crumbs are quite ok but panko bread crumbs feel more crunchy.
- Homemade sauce is always a good option but some people don’t like the raw, unflavoured tastes. They prefer chemically flavored tinned sauces. I personally go for homemade one.
- Similar is with honey. Some prefer raw honey but in this hot poppers recipe, refined honey is recommended.
- Another variation in this hot poppers recipe is the use of sesame seeds. Mix 1/4th tsp in the sauce and enjoy the munch.
